Welcome back, we all hope that you have enjoyed your half term holidays and had a well-deserved break. This term we are learning a range of wonderful things across the curriculum and we hope you are as excited as we are!
This term in English we are going to be doing lots of fantastic writing based on the book - The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me by Roald Dahl. We will be specifically focusing on the describing words we can use and experimenting using a wide range of different adjectives. We will be doing lots of descriptive writing and planning our own parts to the story.
Within maths we are going to be developing our multiplication skills further. We will be showing we can use a range of multiplying and diving techniques such as using repeated addition, arrays and other formal written methods. We will also be improving our time table knowledge and using this to complete harder sums. Later in the half term we will be identifying the value of different coins and using these to answer a range of questions using all 4 operations.
Our topic this half term is called ‘Where have all the leaves gone’. In our continuous provision we will be covering a range of lessons such as:
Topic Writing – We will be learning the history of Dewsbury and how it is related to the Milling Industry. We will also write about a range of famous people from Dewsbury, specifically Thomas Clifford Allbutt.
Art – Within art we will be learning about Andy Goldsworthy and will re-create a number of his pieces of artwork using a range of different materials.
RE – We will be developing our understanding of people who offer care within our community, including hospitals, care homes, food banks, schools, the police and the fire service.
DT – We will be creating a sliding story relating to the seasons and will be using a range of simple materials.
