This week in English we would like you to begin planning and writing your own Greek myth (as part of our topic on 'All about Greeks').
Begin by reminding yourself of the well-known myth 'Theseus and the Minotaur' and 'Perseus and Medusa' to give you ideas for your own myth. All the links and details are in the pdf below.
We would like you to then plan your myth, create a hero/heroine that will feature in your myth and write the opening paragraph. The rest we will do in weeks 2 and 3.
Any questions, please feel free to email your teachers and don't forget to send in your work. We'd love to see what kind of hero/heroine you create for your own myth!
Week commencing 1st June.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
Please enjoy sharing a story together with your child, listen to your child read and let them discuss what they have read. Encourage them to read with expression and intonation. Explore new vocabulary you find when reading. Can you find any synonyms or antonyms for your new word? You can access a wide range of books on Reading Eggs. Your child has their log in details and will be able to sign into their account.
Below you will find 3 comprehensions. Have a go at each one, as always you don't need to print them out. Simply read the text and answer the questions on paper or verbally to a family member.
The first comprehension is, ' The Holiday'. Have a read and hope that next year in year 4 we can visit Filey beach!
The second comprehension is linked to our science topic, ' Light and Dark'. It would be wonderful if you could have a go at making shadows and then send in your pictures to your teacher. It would, I'm sure ' light up' their day.
The third comprehension is an absolutely superb story and it links in with our Greek topic. How would you describe Theseus?
