Following safeguarding guidance; from Monday 16th October 2017,school staff will no longer be administering medication to children, unless in exceptional circumstances where a full Educational Healthcare Plan is in place, for an on-going health issue.  In these instances, medication can only be administered by staff who have had full training and two members of staff must be in attendance.

Where medication such as antibiotics, states that it has to be taken 3 times a day, the recommendation is that the medicine is given:

1. in the morning before school, 2. when the child is collected from school, 3. later in the evening.

Parents are also free to come in to school at any time to administer medication to their own child if they wish.

In the case of inhalers, these are kept in the classroom and are self - administered by the child.

Calpol will still be administered in an emergency e.g. when a child has a fever.

We are beginning the 'My First Mobile' unit of study with Year 5 and Year 6 this term.  'Myfirstmobile' is a programme of study derived from a Kirklees Safeguarding Children Board Digital Citizen Award Project.  It is designed for teachers to equip pupils with basic skills to help them make the correct choices whilst using the internet via a mobile device or computer.

If you would like to discuss the content of the programme, please contact Mr Longley in school
