Nursery Stay and Plays

Every two weeks Nursery invite parents, carers and grandparents to attend our stay and play sessions.

During the last hour of the session parents can see what their children have been doing, play alongside them in their chosen activities and chat to staff about how their child is developing and what they enjoy doing at Nursery.

This half term the sessions will run alternate Tuesdays and are on:

Tuesday 10th March

Tuesday 24th March

at 10:00am and 2:00pm

Please report to the main reception office upon arrival where you will be asked to sign in.

It's Springtime!

Our Topic

Our topic this half term is

Are Eggs Alive???

Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken. Lay a little egg for me!

Are eggs alive?

What are buds?

It’s time to find out more about the things that happen in the world around us during spring.
This half term, we’ll head outside for a spring walk to see and explore a range of plants and animals.

We’ll collect some frogspawn to take back to school for observation. Do frogs really develop out of this strange jelly?

Looking at eggs more closely, we’ll learn about incubation and hatching.

Back outside, we’ll set up a weather station to measure rain, temperature, and wind speed and direction.

We’ll plant, care for and observe a range of seeds. What do they need to grow? Before we draw and paint them, we’ll smell and gently touch spring flowers, using hand lenses to identify petals, stems and leaves.

We’ll listen to and find out about the Easter story, and we’ll sing and play along to spring-themed nursery rhymes.

Using our maths skills, we’ll count ducks. What happens to the total number when a duck goes missing?

Not forgetting Easter eggs, we’ll pour melted chocolate into moulds to make chocolate bunnies and eggs. Then, we’ll go on an Easter egg hunt!
At the end of the project, we’ll invite you to come and make spring bonnets with us.

World Book Day

Look at the fantastic costumes that children came to school in to celebrate World Book Day!

We will be reading lots of stories linked to our topic about animals that we see in the Spring time.

We have chosen to read the Odd Egg as part of Wold Book Day on 6th March

50 Things to do Before You're Five

This half term we are staring a weekly family challenge using ideas from the 50 Things App. Every Friday you will receive a Ping to explain what the challenge is. We would like parents to do the challenge with their children and record it using the Tapestry App.

Your child will receive a raffle ticket for every challenge that is completed which we will draw at the end of the half term.

Download the app through the app store.

           This week we are doing...
