Writing - what is the purpose of the day of the Dead altar?

Today, you are going to design an altar.  It may be for someone close to you who is still alive or it may be for someone who has passed away.  You are going to think what you could include which would represent and celebrate their life.  You are going to write or draw each item and explain why it makes you think of the person you have chosen.
