This week in art we will be creating our own Ancient Egyptian Canopic Jar.

Art - Make your own canopic jars

In topic we learnt all about the process of mummification and why this was   important to the ancient Egyptians. They used canopic jars which were four decorated clay pots, each with a different head of the sons of Horus, to store the organs of the dead body.

You are going to have a go at making your own canopic jar. You can be as        creative as you like and make you canopic jar out of anything you can think of! For example you could use kitchen rolls, cardboard tubes or plastic cups for the body. You could draw the head on paper or card and then attach this on top.

Read through the information sheet and look at the pictures to give you some ideas. You could copy the designs and the head from the pictures.
