Year 5

Week beginning 13th July

Hello Year 5,

We have reached the last week of the school year and it is almost time for you to step up and become the eldest children in school. We have really enjoyed seeing some of the fantastic work you have been doing over the past few months, as ever you can get in touch with us using the 'Talk to your teacher' tab.

We can't wait to see you back in school in September. Until then, stay safe, work hard and be kind to those around you.

Miss Broad, Mr Connolly and Mr Williamson.

Week beginning 6th July

Greetings Year 5!

It's been another busy week in school as we've been gearing up for our 50th birthday celebrations. We have loved seeing some of the scarecrows you have sent us pictures of and can't wait to see them displayed around school.

Our writing and topic work this week will continue to focus on life during the Victorian Era, remember to send us your work via our class emails to be in with a chance of winning a £10 Argos voucher.

As always, do what you can, message us for help if you need it but most importantly have fun and be kind to others.

Miss Broad, Mr Connolly and Mr Williamson.

Week beginning 29th June

Hello Year 5,

This week we will be celebrating our school turning 50! Have a look below, for details of a fun scarecrow competition you can get involved in this week, we would love to see your entries around school from Friday. There are even some prizes on offer!

Our work this week will have a 1970's focus, as Westmoor first opened it's doors in 1970. This is a great chance for you to talk to some older family members about what life was like then and how it has changed since. Mr Williamson has had to do plenty of research as surprisingly he isn't that old!

As always, have a go at what you can do and if you need any help or would just like to say hello you can email us at:
Miss Broad - class5b@westmoorprimaryschool.co.uk

Mr Connolly - class5c@westmoorprimaryschool.co.uk
Mr Williamson - class5w@westmoorprimaryschool.co.uk

Until next week, continue to work hard and be kind to those around you.

Miss Broad, Mr Connolly and Mr Williamson.

Westmoor is 50!

It would be great if you could join in with this fun activity for all of the family to get involved with!

Week beginning 22nd June

Hello Year 5!

We hope this message finds you safe and well. We have been working hard teaching Year 6 again this week and have really enjoyed making some Shang Dynasty style pottery. Away from school Mr Williamson was glued to his tv as Premier League football returned on Wednesday night, he's looking forward to watching his team (Manchester United) play on Friday.

This week we will be completing our work on explanation texts in English. Researching the Royal Family at the time of the Industrial Revolution and creating a fact file on a European capital city. As always, try your best and have a go at what you can.

Once you've completed your work, or if you have any questions you can email us at:
class5b@westmoorprimaryschool.co.uk - Miss Broad

class5c@westmoorprimaryschool.co.uk - Mr Connolly
class5w@westmoorprimaryschool.co.uk - Mr Williamson

Each week, everyone who sends in a piece of work will be entered into a draw for a £10 Argos voucher.

Finally, Westmoor turns 50 this year! We have lots planned to celebrate including a Scarecrow making activity that you can complete at home. Watch this space for further updates next week.

Stay safe, stay well and be kind to those around you.

Miss Broad, Mr Connolly and Mr Williamson.

Week beginning 15th June

Hello Year 5,

We hope you're well, have been staying safe and working hard. We have been busy teaching Year 6 in school this week, while preparing activities for you to complete at home. This week we will be finishing off our work on explanation texts, using percentages in Maths and continuing our work on Dewsbury during the Industrial Revolution.

From this week we will be restarting our phone calls home to check in on how things are going. Until then have fun, work hard and be kind to those around you.

Miss Broad, Mr Connolly and Mr Williamson

Week beginning 8th June

Hello Year 5!

We hope you're well and have been working hard at home. The weather recently has been fantastic, unfortunately it looks like we might be in for a bit of rain over the next week or so. This will be the perfect excuse for Mr Williamson to complete more Sporcle quizzes, how exciting!

We have been in school this week teaching Year 6 children, which was a little strange at first but we're back into the swing of things now. It feels like we've never been away.

Your work for this week is on the pages below. As always, have a go at what you can do. Don't worry if you struggle with some of the tasks as they are quite tricky. You can get in touch with us by email if you have any questions, or just want to say hello!

Take care and we hope to see you all again soon.

Miss Broad, Mr Connolly and Mr Williamson
