BROWNLEE HOUSE
Welcome to Brownlee House
I’m Mrs Dawson and I am very proud to be the Head of Brownlee House. I am passionate about making an inclusive environment for all pupils at Westmoor through my role as SENCO and I am also really looking forward to making Brownlee House the very best it can be!
The inspiration for our house is named after Alistair Brownlee MBE who was born in Dewsbury. He is regarded as one of the greatest male triathletes ever.
His event includes swimming, cycling and running and Alistair was the top of his class, being the only athlete to have two Olympic triathlon gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 games and being a four-time World Champion. He was awarded an MBE in 2013 by the Queen for outstanding achievements in sport.
In Brownlee House, we want to take inspiration from Alistair’s dedication to achieving his dreams. His commitment to training and relentless pursuit of improvements are legendary. We want to make sure that we, in Brownlee House, try really hard in everything we do and strive to improve every day. Alistair is also passionate about encouraging others to live healthily and be active and, in school, like Alistair, I will be encouraging all members of Brownlee House to participate in all the exciting sports events and other activities which are planned throughout the year. Practice makes perfect as they say!
Alistair believes that schools are a really important part of a child’s journey to being a happy, healthy adult. He states, “Kids can be inspired all they want but if they cannot go out and try a sport, then it’s no good.” As the head of Brownlee House, I want to make sure that our children have lots of different opportunities to try not only a range of sports but also other exciting activities which will shape and inspire their futures for the better.
Brownlee House is also delighted to support Kirkwood Hospice this year as our house charity. This amazing charity shares many of the values that Brownlee House strives towards including being respectful, inclusive, passionate, determined, honest and compassionate. Hopefully, with your help, we will raise lots of money for this worthy cause.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
