Competitions

Hello Westmoor!
My name is Mr Richardson and I’m writing to tell you all about something really exciting starting at Westmoor in September 2025—our brand new Coaching and House Points project!
I’m very excited to be the House Captain of Westmoor, and I’d love you to read this carefully so you know what my job is, how it can help you, and—most importantly—how you can get involved!

What do I do as House Captain?
Myself and Mr Barker will be keeping track of all the House Points you earn. You can collect points in lots of ways—by:
Working hard in lessons
Taking part in school events
Showing positive behaviour
And by following our school’s 6 R’s!
The more points you earn, the better chance your House has of winning amazing prizes… and yes, I said PRIZES!

Let’s talk House Events!
Guess what? I’ll be running lots of fun House competitions and events throughout the year, and I want you to take part. Some of the exciting things you can look forward to include:
A Pumpkin Carving Contest, Growing the Tallest Sunflower, Westmoor Obstacle Races, A Bake Off, and loads more!
Got a fun idea for a competition? I’d love to hear it! If it’s something we can do in school, I’ll try to make it happen!

What kind of prizes, Mr Richardson?
Great question! There will be rewards like:
Tickets to exciting events
Toys and games
Amazon vouchers so you can choose something you love
All you need to do is get involved, try your best, and show brilliant behaviour—easy!

Where can you find out more?
I’ll be popping into assemblies and your House assemblies to tell you what’s coming up and to answer any questions you might have. Plus, we’ll include a special section in the school newsletter to keep you updated on all the exciting things what are happening.

So… are you ready? Because I definitely am!
Let’s have fun, earn points, and make this our best year yet!
Mr Richardson

our Happy and Proud House Captain

Hello everyone!
I’m Mr. Williamson, and I’m really excited to be your new Sports & Games Captain here at Westmoor. I’ll be in charge of running all things sport-related, including our new inter-house competitions and making sure we compete in lots of events across Kirklees. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect this year:
Inter-House Competitions at Lunchtime: Every half term, we’ll have friendly competitions between the houses during lunchtime. These events are all about having fun, working as a team, and earning those house points! The first competition this autumn term will be Cross Country. It’s a great way to challenge yourself, get active, and show some house pride! Mrs Laher will be helping to run these events too...
Events Across Kirklees: Alongside the house competitions, we’ll also take part in various sporting events around Kirklees. Whether it’s football, cricket, athletics or something else, our school will be representing us in style! We’ll focus on playing hard, playing fair, and always doing our best—but most importantly, we’ll have fun along the way!
Fun & Participation: I want everyone to get involved, no matter if your a seasoned pro or trying something for the first time. Sport is for everyone, and it’s about more than just winning - it’s about having a good time, trying your best, and being part of a team. There’s a place for everyone here at Westmoor!
Good Sportsmanship: This is really important to me. Whether you’re playing or cheering others on, showing respect, kindness, and encouragement is key. We’ll celebrate our wins with pride and accept our losses with grace. Being part of a team means lifting each other up and always showing respect to opponents, officials and teammates alike.
I can’t wait to get started and see how much fun we can have together this year.
Let’s make it full of excitement, teamwork, playing and plenty of unforgettable sporting moments.
Play hard, play fair and most importantly...have fun!
Looking forward to seeing you all out there!

Mr. Williamson
