GAFFNEY HOUSE
Hi, Welcome to Gaffney House.
We’re Mrs Ibrahim and Mrs Day – the Heads of Gaffney House, proudly represented by the colour red – the colour of strength, energy and passion.
Our house is named after Sean Gaffney, an incredible Paralympian and true inspiration to us all. Sean has previously visited school and shared his incredible journey. After facing life-changing injuries, Sean didn't give up. Instead, he rose to become a powerlifter and rowing champion, representing Great Britain at international level. He proved that even in the toughest of circumstances, greatness can be achieved through hard work and a positive attitude.
Sean’s story teaches us to never stop believing in ourselves and to push through challenges with courage. His perseverance makes him a perfect role model for our school community — showing that success comes not only from talent, but from grit and heart.
Our house motto, inspired by Sean, is:
"Be good today, be better tomorrow." This mirrors our schools 6 R’s: taking ownership, continuing even when things are tough, being prepared, striving to consistently improve how we interact with each and reflecting on how things went today and planning how to improve tomorrow.
As part of Gaffney House, we will also be working closely with the Mid Yorkshire Hospital Charity, supporting local people through acts of kindness, fundraising and community spirit.
Together, we will aim high, support one another, and show the same determination and compassion that make Sean Gaffney a true hero.
We look forward to sharing many great years with you!
